Jean-Luc Ostertag

jean-luc-ostertag

As one of Willm’s landowners since the very foundation of the Maison, Jean-Luc Ostertag now owns 62 square meters of Riesling vines in the Grand Cru Kirchberg de Barr. He also owns vines in the famous Clos Gaensbrœnnel and tends to these Grand Cru crops with patience and love, treating them as his own agricultural gem.

THE MAISON WILLM & ME, AN EPIC

The Maison Willm, seen as an emblematic player in the Barr regional trade, has always emitted an authentic, quality brand image. All of my fellow winemakers and I are proud to sell our grapes to the Maison Willm, and have been since its creation in 1896.

The Maison Willm is like my second family!

WILLM WINES, WINES OF GREAT DELICACY

The Willm wines are fresh and refined. The emblematic terroir of the Grand Cru Kirchberg de Barr offers wines of incredible wealth, allowing the Maison to differentiate and establish itself quickly on export markets.

LIFE AS A WINEMAKER, A FAMILY TALE!

My parents were winemakers, which exposed me to the winemaking environment at a very young age. It was by working alongside them in the family vineyards day in and day out that my vocation was born!

Patience & passion at the heart of winemaking

PRUNING THE VINES: A DEFINING MOMENT

To me, pruning, which usually takes place from January to mid-February, is a moment of pure harmony between the land and the vines. This work is particularly fulfilling as trimming always has an important impact on the future harvest.

MY FAVORITE WINE

The Pinot Gris Grand Cru Kirchberg de Barr offers the subtlety of grilled/toasted bread, with iodine notes. This wine pairs perfectly with a capon or turkey dish, so we always have it on our table around the holidays!
